XXXV — The Solar Plexus Chakra
Next, we have the Solar Plexus Chakra, and it is situated in the region of the upper abdomen. This Chakra allows us to become confident with ourselves and gives to us an assured satisfaction that what we are doing is the right cause and course for our journey in this life. It bestows upon us the feeling of self-worth and confident expression. This Chakra lies at the very centre of our personality and shapes our identity with the world in which we live. It is our true self.
Our identity is important in the world, as it not only gives us meaning but shows to others the existence of our beings. Nurturing this image of the spirit within us and the Chakra itself allows us to radiate out to the Universe that which we so want the Universe to hear. No one truly wishes to exhibit before the world around and beyond a timid and unassuming spirit, tentative to every act and event, nor do we want to be seen as boisterous and boastful, as these vices will attach only similar people, personalities and vibrations. When we are confident, however, and exude a quiet expression of personal power, this is the goal we should all aim for. Concentrating on the Solar Plexus Chakra will help you to achieve that goal.
When the Solar Plexus Chakra is neglected, often lack of identity and self-worth will come to call; there will be despondency and lack of determination in anything you do. Things won't have a point, and there will be no point in trying.
When aligning our Solar Plexus Chakra and allowing the energy in its being to flow, we have to demonstrate an unswerving focus and concentration, a self-disciplined action to make manifest the same qualities in our true character. By practising this skill, and given time, this manifestation of confidence will come naturally to you, and you won't have to consciously perform the activity each day. The subconscious will take its cue, and it will take over and administer to your character a real and manifest person possessing inner self-confidence and personal power.
When you have reached this stage of character, and you have harnessed the inner energy and power that the Solar Plexus Chakra has given you, previous feelings and actions of inertia and undecidedness will become banished and the new you will be more focused to drive through to completion your desires.

About Karl Swainston
Karl Swainston is a writer and storyteller whose work is forged from a life lived across the North of England and far beyond. Growing up on a Leeds council estate in the 1960s, Karl's journey was anything but linear. By the age of thirty, he had already lived a dozen lives: from the rigors of grammar school to a degree in Latin, a stint as a fishmonger, a period of discovery living in Marseille, and a return to the hustle of London. Whether working as a postman, a builder, or competing as a county-level chess player, he was, above all, an avid reader—constantly documenting the world around him. This restless spirit continued into his professional life. Karl later taught in Bradford, where he ran a specialist unit for 244 of the most excluded students from across the region—young people whom even the local Pupil Referral Units could not accommodate. Working alongside his old friend Malcolm, Karl spent his days navigating the volatility of Bradford's most aggressive and dysfunctional teenagers. Throughout his life, Karl has been an avid runner and has always shared his home with a rotating cast of beloved dogs and cats—companions who have been constant witnesses to his work. As a writer, Karl's range is as expansive as his history. He works across a wide breadth of genres, including fiction and short stories, autobiography and memoir, biography, non-fiction, and metaphysical writing, as well as providing sharp commentary, opinion, analysis, and essays. Whether writing about his years managing the Harrogate Arms or offering insights from his current adopted home in South East India, where he lives in a simple village with his dog, Bambi, Karl's voice reflects the full, untidy, and deeply human breadth of life. He continues to draw on the rich, decades-long tapestry of his experiences to tell stories that matter, proving that no matter where you live, the human story remains the same.
