XII — Compensation, Attraction, and Transmutation

← Karl Swainston / Resonance

The Law of Compensation

This law is the logical consequence of cause and effect. If our deeds our just, noble, and of the highest benefit to ourselves without any harm to any other living creature, then the Universe will compensate likewise in our fortunes, and what we sow, so shall we reap the rewards of our efforts. The law is abundant not only in material desires, but it is also manifest in emotional and spiritual rewards for our previous actions.

The Law of Attraction

We are the creators of our own Universe. What we think, what we feel, and everything about us is energy, and the Universe is a master of returning the same like and frequency of energy. What we think, so shall we become. Attraction is the universal gift of presenting to us that which we have created in mind, body, and spirit. We attract to ourselves what we ourselves give out. We have to be extremely careful, as if we are negative, then all around us will be negative, and it will be an effort of pull to drag ourselves away from the consequences of being negative and being in a negative atmosphere. But if we are positive, even in the darkest days, then so shall light be offered to us and returned to us in the form of positive energy. And this energy will invigorate us to ever more positive planes of attraction. Reaching the highest planes of attraction allows us to make manifest all that is good and banish to the realms of history all that is bad.

The Law of Perpetual Transmutation of Energy

This law and the unswerving belief in it has the ability to change the fortunes of one's life by changing the energy fields around us. We are all powerful and possess the power to change from what is bad in our lives to what is good and what is happy for us. We have to strive to emanate from the centre of our beings higher energies than we have previously delivered if we want to make a marked and radical change in our fortunes. We have to cultivate and nurture energy which intrinsically attached to the Universe, and by so doing, we will negate and loosen the knots of energy which attach us to our ego. This journey to the transmutation of energy and transformation of self and of fortunes has to be self-disciplined and it must possess and demonstrate an unreserved belief in the laws of the Universe. We must be at one with the Universe and its laws for it to happen.

About Karl Swainston

Karl Swainston is a writer and storyteller whose work is forged from a life lived across the North of England and far beyond. Growing up on a Leeds council estate in the 1960s, Karl's journey was anything but linear. By the age of thirty, he had already lived a dozen lives: from the rigors of grammar school to a degree in Latin, a stint as a fishmonger, a period of discovery living in Marseille, and a return to the hustle of London. Whether working as a postman, a builder, or competing as a county-level chess player, he was, above all, an avid reader—constantly documenting the world around him. This restless spirit continued into his professional life. Karl later taught in Bradford, where he ran a specialist unit for 244 of the most excluded students from across the region—young people whom even the local Pupil Referral Units could not accommodate. Working alongside his old friend Malcolm, Karl spent his days navigating the volatility of Bradford's most aggressive and dysfunctional teenagers. Throughout his life, Karl has been an avid runner and has always shared his home with a rotating cast of beloved dogs and cats—companions who have been constant witnesses to his work. As a writer, Karl's range is as expansive as his history. He works across a wide breadth of genres, including fiction and short stories, autobiography and memoir, biography, non-fiction, and metaphysical writing, as well as providing sharp commentary, opinion, analysis, and essays. Whether writing about his years managing the Harrogate Arms or offering insights from his current adopted home in South East India, where he lives in a simple village with his dog, Bambi, Karl's voice reflects the full, untidy, and deeply human breadth of life. He continues to draw on the rich, decades-long tapestry of his experiences to tell stories that matter, proving that no matter where you live, the human story remains the same.
