LXII — Resonant Wealth – Confidence and Measured Style

← Karl Swainston / Resonance

If you are going for a job, and you have already convinced yourself that the job is yours, and your subconscious and conscious being conspire through the radiation of positive energy that the interviewer has already determined to select your candidature, and you can see them shaking your hand and saying, 'Well done,' then when you actually walk through the doors and entertain the interview, you will excel every part of yourself, and success will be yours. Be careful, however, not to appear supremely confident, as this will exude a negative impact upon your audience. The swagger as you enter the room won't work, and the head held back that far you appear to be looking at the ceiling will exude only a person stuffed with self-pride and complete self-love. You must aim at the golden mean, as Aristotle put it, and show respect to the persons you are dealing with, and remembering this with a measured and more sophisticated style of confidence will bring you greater success.

In order to reach your purpose and achievement, it is essential you acquire, where necessary, all the skills you will need to fulfil your desire. It is very rare that someone possesses all the necessary accoutrements with which they will succeed. Most of us have to work and develop those skills essential to the accomplishment of our aim. When you write down your purpose and accompany that purpose with commensurate actions, you will be able to see where there are fault lines which can thwart your desire. These trials and tribulations, for want of a better phrase, must be overcome, and most commonly it is through education and skill, knowledge and wisdom that they can be conquered. A person wanting to gain a post of promotion in their chosen career path will always endeavour to acquire the necessary skills for that job; even if they have to self-educate themselves, the struggle will lead to success. There is nothing more in life that the Universal energy resents so much as inertia and the lack of will to bring out the best and bring out the most in our lives. On the contrary, though, energy expressed through desire and positive action will see the like in return, and effort, dedication, and unadulterated determination always pay dividends to the person expressing such a state of being.

Throughout the whole duration of time and the breadth of deeds you thrive and act, don't ever worry about what others may think of you. Your plan is singularly you and no one else. You have created your plan, and only you can see that plan through to its successful conclusion. Many people fail in their plans, not because they don't have confidence in themselves, but they are swayed by the lack of confidence other people have in them. Sometimes even a look of incredulity accompanied by a raised eyebrow and a mouth-line bordering upon a smirk can smash the confidence of a person seeking their goal.

About Karl Swainston

Karl Swainston is a writer and storyteller whose work is forged from a life lived across the North of England and far beyond. Growing up on a Leeds council estate in the 1960s, Karl's journey was anything but linear. By the age of thirty, he had already lived a dozen lives: from the rigors of grammar school to a degree in Latin, a stint as a fishmonger, a period of discovery living in Marseille, and a return to the hustle of London. Whether working as a postman, a builder, or competing as a county-level chess player, he was, above all, an avid reader—constantly documenting the world around him. This restless spirit continued into his professional life. Karl later taught in Bradford, where he ran a specialist unit for 244 of the most excluded students from across the region—young people whom even the local Pupil Referral Units could not accommodate. Working alongside his old friend Malcolm, Karl spent his days navigating the volatility of Bradford's most aggressive and dysfunctional teenagers. Throughout his life, Karl has been an avid runner and has always shared his home with a rotating cast of beloved dogs and cats—companions who have been constant witnesses to his work. As a writer, Karl's range is as expansive as his history. He works across a wide breadth of genres, including fiction and short stories, autobiography and memoir, biography, non-fiction, and metaphysical writing, as well as providing sharp commentary, opinion, analysis, and essays. Whether writing about his years managing the Harrogate Arms or offering insights from his current adopted home in South East India, where he lives in a simple village with his dog, Bambi, Karl's voice reflects the full, untidy, and deeply human breadth of life. He continues to draw on the rich, decades-long tapestry of his experiences to tell stories that matter, proving that no matter where you live, the human story remains the same.
